A Fall for Quilting

Monday, October 7, 2013
The colors of fall are starting to get brighter, although the frost has only hit some areas, we are starting to see the brightness come through. The leaves on the branches below remind of little strips of fabric hanging side by side on a line. Its like someone had just dyed them and hung them out to dry, so bright, so colorful.

The oak leaves are turning all shades of bronze, gold and rusts. You will see oaks and acorns on our feature quilt today. Take a look below.

Today, we have a lovely Irish Chain quilt hung over the porch rail among the yellow chrysanthemums. This beauty was made by Natalie and is a good queen size quilt. It is 85.5 "x 106". It has been custom quilted with a "Oak Leaf" pattern in the squares. The outside border is done in a corresponding oak leaf pattern with a matching curlicue pattern on the inner border.

Notice the quilt has been crosshatched between the blocks and it makes a lovely complete pattern. This quilt could be used on the bed on either side and will look lovely. Nice job Natalie.

  2. The crosshatching is so nice. What a gorgeous quilt; both front and back will look great on any bed. Being able to reverse the quilt is a real bonus. Lucy
