Blueberries Thrill Me

Monday, August 5, 2013

Here we are now into August, and the gardens are full of color. You will see the lilies are in full bloom along with the Liatris and phlox. The hummingbirds are loving them and spend all day flitting around their feeder and the flowers. I love this time of year when you can start to see your garden coming together after all the hard work you have put into it. It is the same with putting together your quilt when the colors are chosen and now they have been sewn together. Now isn't that a painting of sorts!

These are my big oriental lilies called "Cascade". They show up so nice in the garden and really outshine the other lilies in their purest of white.
I picked a few high-bush blueberries so far this year but the wild berries are not quite ready. They will be ready in a few weeks and the fields will be blue with them. I have spent many summers raking blueberries in the fields in Nova Scotia while growing up and I can see where Jeanne-Kay gets the name of her quilt,"Blueberry Thrill". This quilt is 59.5" x 75" and is quilted all over in the pattern called"Blueberry Stipple".

The pattern shows up so nicely on the back side of this quilt. This is a very nice pattern to use.

  1. Hi Gwenda, Just wanted to tell you that I raked blueberries in Oxford, to earn money to go to Expo 67 in Montreal! It is hard work. Jeanne Kaye
